This unusual and rather impressive elegy is found in a single source, the Album of Margaret of Austria. MS 228 of the Bibliotheque royale. Koninklijke Bibliotheek in Brussels. No composer is given in the source, which fails to give attributions for all but one of the pieces, even though most have been identified from other sources. the most generously represented composer is Pierre de la Rue, followed by Josquin des Pres, who is the only composer to be credited in the collection.
