Stop the Time, I Want to Get Off composed by Jon Grier. For jazz ensemble. Swing. Score and set of parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press. NC.563. A quick bop throughout with frequent interruptions of the meter. The lines are generally busy and legato with "be-bop" endings. There are good parts for all and the scoring is varied. Some unison playing, some in harmony, some in a polyphonic mix. The drummer keeps the hat going during some of the stopped measures and, in others, adds fills. Each solo improv begins with blues changes in stop time then continues in an uninterrupted Eb blues. This section may be repeated as often as desired for each soloist, and can be varied in any way the group sees fit with different players soloing and covering the changes.
