Recognized worldwide as a composer and arranger of the highest caliber, Carl Strommen has had music performed by everyone from top New York and Los Angeles recording artists to middle school choirs and bands. He is known for his ability to create music that will work in just about any situation, and we think you'll agree that this new composition for young jazz ensemble is right on the money. This great new piece at medium-easy level is in the swinging tradition of Billy Byers and Quincy Jones. Trumpet and tenor saxophone kick things off in an "easy 2" feel with a blues-tinged saxophone versus brass passage following. There are written solos for tenor saxophone. optional trombone. and trumpet. Carl has also included a section without the rhythm section to showcase your wind players to the fullest. The suggested minimum required instrumentation for the music in this series is 2 alto saxophones, 1 tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, piano, bass and drums.
